Thorium Documentation
Welcome to the official documentation for Thorium, the retrofit EV charging controller built by Dark Matter Networks. Whether you are installing your first unit or managing a fleet of chargers, these docs will walk you through everything you need to know.
What is Thorium?
Thorium is a hardware controller that sits between the electrical grid and your existing EV chargers. It adds commercial-grade payment collection, energy metering, and remote management to chargers that were never designed for public or semi-public use. A single Thorium unit supports up to 4 chargers, each independently controlled via dedicated contactors and current sensors.
Payment is handled through an integrated Viva Wallet NFC POS terminal — drivers simply tap their contactless card or phone to start a session. There is no commission: every cent goes directly into the operator's Viva Wallet merchant account. Thorium uses a preauthorization billing model, so drivers are only charged for the energy they actually consume.
